STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS & DESIGN: With the introduction of powerful software tools to the field of structural engineering, the possibility and need to expand the frontiers of knowledge is increasing. The focus is not only on the deepening of structural behavior, but also on the evaluation and development of new design tools, as well as investigations into the inelastic range of structures. EVALUATION OF STRUCTURES: Frequent natural events have shown that there are still deficiencies with respect to the design and evaluation of the actual behavior of structures (e.g. Kobe 1995). The socio-cultural conditions of the country make it necessary to monitor and record events around structures of special interest to the communities.
