The center
Research and development
The group conducts basic and applied research. Basic research is focused on experimental studies of the structure of the atomic nucleus via nuclear reactions in European or American laboratories. The study of the nucleus is achieved by identifying the properties of the emitted radiation, mainly gamma rays, protons, neutrons and alpha particles, during the de-excitation process. In the applied area, the Group uses gamma ray, alpha particle and neutron spectroscopy methods for the characterization of materials. Both for the basic and the applied part, the experimental methods are strongly supported by numerical simulation and theoretical studies.
